Here's how you can get the free demo version of Umineko no Naku Koro ni (When Seagulls Cry).
This game contains all of Episode 1.
Windows
- Set your computer up to work with Japanese. Check here.
- Download the demo version of the game (click one of the links ミラー7-14).
- Download the translation patch.
- Unpack both the demo and the patch.
- Move the patch folder into the demo folder (called "umineko").
- At this point, you no longer need to be in Japanese locale to run the patch.
- Run ONScripter_Windows.exe in the patch folder.
Mac
- Download the demo version of the game (click one of the links ミラー7-14).
- The normal Archive Utility for Mac OSX does not extract the demo zip file correctly, so use a third
party extraction tool such as The Unarchiver. - Download the translation patch.
- Unpack the patch and move the unpacked folder into the demo folder (called "umineko").
- Run ONScripter_MacOSX in the patch folder.
